Ideas for landscape Melbourne – Every year as the holidays approach, I have clients ask me about cost-effective ways to make their landscapes look great for parties and family get-togethers. Below are a couple of tips I share with them:
- Add potted plants. The use of potted plants is a great way to add life and color to your landscape without spending a fortune. You can place these plants on your porch, patio, pool deck or elsewhere. Do keep in mind that if you want these plants to last for more than a couple of days, you need to think about their environment—for instance, if you’re placing plants on your pool deck in the sun, they need to be able to handle direct sunlight. Also keep in mind that potted plants need more water—their roots cannot spread as extensively as if they were planted in the ground. Water them daily—or use a saucer around the base of the pot to retain water.
- Create a strong first impression. As guests arrive at your house, the first thing they will notice is your driveway and front yard. Make sure the lawn is freshly cut and that your beds are edged and mulched well. Also make sure that any fallen branches or other debris are cleared out of the front yard.
- Add lighting to your landscape. If your event is in the evening, adding lighting makes a world of difference. We’ll cover lighting in depth next week!
